
It is, of course possible to combine images that use srcset
with CSS to adjust the way they are displayed in the browser.
In this example three similar images are provided and it's up to the browser to choose which one, depending on its capabilities.
The default styling for this page assumes a narrow 'mobile' layout. The CSS specifies special behaviour as the page widens above 600 pixels wide (current width is pixels). Notice that in these circumstances, the image does not change - only the way it is formatted does.
Notice that whilst the layout changes, the image does not. It is selected by the browser based on pixel density once, and not reloaded or changed.
Use the DPR selection tool to change pixel density and reload the page.
